Foundation Founder

The hometown of the Elginkan family, who founded the Elginkan Group, is Manisa. The family bearing the surname Elginkan is affiliated with the Saruhanids by mother Ümmehan Elginkan. Father Ahmet Elginkan's family origins come from Rusçuk, near Shumen, which is within the borders of Bulgaria today, and the family is known as "Rusçuklu Necipzade".

The sons named Hüseyin Ekrem were born in 1924 and Hüseyin Cahit in 1926, to the family that was engaged in timber trading in Izmir. The university education of brothers Hüseyin Ekrem and Hüseyin Cahit Elginkan plays an important role in determining their field of work and laying the foundations of the Elginkan Group.

Completing his education at Istanbul Technical University, Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in 1948, and Hüseyin Cahit Elginkan graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1950.

After completing their reserve officer period in Ankara, brothers Hüseyin Ekrem and Hüseyin Cahit Elginkan started their business life as contractors, doing small office services and installation projects there. The brothers expanded their work in the field of contracting in 1953 and are known as the first contractors to expand into Anatolia. E.C.A. was named after the initials of Ekrem, Cahit and their father Ahmet Elginkan in 1957. They step into the industrial field by establishing Presdöküm A.Ş.

In 1954, Anne Ümmehan Elginkan, Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan and Hüseyin Cahit Elginkan; Takes the decision to establish the Elginkan Foundation; This decision was implemented in 1985, following various stages in the following years. Although establishing foundations and/or establishing ties with foundations is not a common practice in business groups established in Turkey, managing the Group through a Foundation is seen as an unusual practice.

The aim of the Foundation is for the Elginkan Group to live forever and serve its nation.

Mr. Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan, the founder of the Elginkan Group, which operates in various sectors with approximately 3000 employees and 20 companies, passed away on April 2, 1999. In addition to Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan's leading role in the industrialization efforts in the Turkish Economy, we believe that his understanding of Corporate Morality and/or Corporate Ethical Values, the importance of which has become increasingly understood in recent years, is the most important legacy left to us.

We carry the trust we received from our founder, the esteemed human Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan, with faith and pride, in line with the principles of the Elginkan Family that shed light on us and the ideal of ETERNAL ENTERPRISE ETERNAL SERVICE.
